The Homestead: General Information
Location: Lakewood (at the intersection of Kipling and Alameda)
Description: The Homestead is a 15.5 acre mixed use development located within the City of Lakewood, Colorado. The project plans to develop 264 upscale units including some "live-work" units to meet the demand in the marketplace and corridor.
The design of the project was based on the following:
- Promoting the Safety of the Community
- Being Consistent with the Comprehensive Plan
- Adapting to the Material Changes of the Neighborhood
- Being Compatible with Surrounding Uses
The Homestead is one of the first projects to be planned and designed accordingly to the Seven Guiding Principles of the
Alameda Cornerstone Plan, adopted by the City of Lakewood in 2003. Those seven guiding principles are:
- Think Green
- Balance and Choice
- Make it Walkable
- Think Big and Small
- Create Character
- Face Front
- Catalyze
The Homestead design team has been astutely aware of these seven principles and has included features throughout the project to meet these principles.
